Day 23: A Way In Which You Want to be Remembered...

So, I am REALLY looking forward to next weekend!  TAYLOR SWIFT CONCERT!!!  Sooooooooooo excited =).  Tomorrow, Megan (she's coming to the concert too) is coming over to make t-shirts for the concert.  So the past 2 days have been spent googling ideas.  What to put on it...what color...etc.  While in the process of deciding, I came across a quote:

"No matter what happens in life, be good to people.  Being good to people is a wonderful legacy to leave behind"
-Taylor Swift

That's how I want to be remembered.  As someone who kind to others.  I have come across a number of people in my life who have left a mark by simply being nice to me.  Saying something sweet...dropping by a plate of goodies...opening the door for me...or simpling smiling and saying hello.

I want to be like that.  No matter what happens in life, I want to be good to people.  And that is how I want to be remembered.

Day 22: A Website

So...I spend 8 hours a day parked in front of a computer.  Exciting, right?  So naturally, I should know all the awesome websites, right?  Wrong!  I stick to the same ol' sites all you guys are familiar with.  Such as...

practice fusion (work)
facebook
pinterest
lds.org
gmail
sugardoodle (church calling)
google.com (LOTS of googling going on over here)
youtube
iheartradio

Yup, that about sums up my day!  Thrilling ;)

So instead of talking about the same old sites, here's a new one you should ALL check out!

Che-che-check it out!  That's Darren's work site, it's pretty awesome.  If you need pest service, he's the one to go to (plug).  You can get an online quote or call him.  See that nasty scorpion on the top right of the page?  Yeah, he'll kill those for you.  He's pretty awesome like that.

Anyway, there's a super awesome website you all should check out.  Happy Tuesday!

(Notice how this 30 day thing began in March and it's October?  I love me haha)

Day 21: Something you know you do differently than most people

So...I've been stuck on this one for a LONG time and I can't think of anything!  Am I really that predictable and boring that I don't do anything different than the norm?  Sad...really...

Hmm...well, there's something I did more in my teenage years, not so much anymore.  Growing up, I wore pants year round.  I'm not sure I even owned a pair of shorts till college.  Which is totally backwards!  Grow up where it's 100+ degress, wear jeans.  Move to Idaho where it MAYBE reaches 95, finally buy shorts?  Yeah, I'm a thinker!  Anyway, I'm not sure why I despised shorts so much, but I did.  I don't anymore.  Generally, I'm in pants, but I probably own equal amouts of shorts and pants.

Oh!  The same goes for shoes.  Growing up, I ALWAYS had on shoes and socks.  Even at the beach...the minute we started packing up to go, I was in my jeans, hoodie, shoes and socks.  I still don't wear flip flops that often, but more so than when I was little.

There are the only 2 differences I could find.  Sad, huh?  Time to be more unique, Emily...  Break away from the norm!

My Weekend

So, it's no secret, I have some of the cutest nieces and nephews of the world, on both sides!  In total, I think we've reached...16 with a little girl on the way.  On Darren's side, there are...26.  A lot, right?  Anyway, I love each and every one of them!  I get to see most of them on a regular basis - at least once a month at family dinner.  But this weekend I got a special treat!  On Friday night, David and Jessica came over and watched the BYU game with us.   And they brought this little guy =)
All decked out in his Y shirt, so cute.  He's grown so much!  He's walking along things and his personality really shines through.  He's so stinkin' cute, I love it.  He's my favorite Caiden!
So that was Friday night.  Saturday evening during Priesthood, Jess and I did a little shopping.  And I got to hang out with this little guy again =)
He was in heaven in his little firetruck and it was so cute to watch =).  Once again, love this boy!  And we got some good shopping in, thanks Jess!  He was so cute with one hand on the wheel and the other out the window.  Like he's a pro!
Then came Sunday.  Sunday morning, Darren, Matt, and I went to Mom's house for breakfast!  David, Jess, and Caiden were there as well.  Caiden cracked us up with his little antics all morning, then I got to rock him to sleep.  Afterwords, he took a very short nap on teddy bear Uncle Darren.
Love <3
So that was my weekend!  It was a great one and I enjoyed every minute of it.  And...Caiden George is the cutest 10 month old ever.

California!

So, for those of you that don't know, I grew up in Palm Desert, CA.  My family moved here when I was 16 years old.  The last time I went and visited Palm Desert was...nearly 2 years ago for mine and Darren's wedding reception.  So a few weeks ago, I figured it was about time to make that trip!  It ended up being a girls weekend.  My friend Megan came along with me while Darren hung out here with his brother and had a guys weekend full of junk food and video games.  Silly boys =P.
Anyway, it was a great short get-away!  Meg and I left after work on Friday and got to the Vorwaller's home later that night.  *Thank you, Vorwallers, for letting us crash at your house!  You guys are awesome!*  Saturday morning, we headed to the most beautiful place on earth.
Beautiful, right?!  Since that night was the RS Broadcast, the last session was at 10 am.  We left early and arrive to the temple at 9:45 am.  And the parking lot was PACKED!  The guy at the gate gave us a map of the streets surrounding the temple and said "The parking lot might be full.  If you can't find parking, you might be able to find some on these side roads."  Megan and I started to panic, we didn't have time to drive around looking for a spot to park!  We decided to check the parking lot first anyway and...wa la!  A lady was walking out as we pulled put and she was parked right in the front!  It was perfect!  We grabbed our stuff, went and changed real fast, and got into the waiting room at 10:00 exactly.  Turned out they had so many people there that morning they ended up doing a 10:30 session as well, so we were safe.  BTW, that temple is AMAZING!  Loved it, so glad we were able to get there in time.  After the beach, we picked up some lunch and headed to the other most beautiful place on earth.
La Jolla Beach!  It was a perfect day!  I was a little worried because it was the end of Sept and the beach is usually a little chilly by then.  Heck, the beach can be chilly in August!  But we decided it was worth the risk and we were going to go anyway.  Well, it was warm, and the sun was shining the WHOLE time, and the water was perfect.  Cold, but not bad once you went under.  We didn't stay long, but it was very relaxing.  Nothing quite like napping on the beach!
After the beach, we headed back to Palm Desert and had a movie night with Bev.  Sunday, we went to my old ward, I saw a few familiar faces, then we spent the afternoon with Riley, Adrian, Bev, and Sheldon.  (They're my other family..no joke).  Then we headed home.  Short trip, but SOOOO worth it, it was so relaxing and an all around great time.  I missed my husband, so getting home was just as great.  A weekend well spent!  Thanks for coming with me Meg =)

Hello...again

So it has been awhile since I've posted - sorry!  Our lives aren't super exciting so I never know what to wright about.  Lame excuse, I know.  So what's happened in the last month and a half...

I don't remember much from August.  I think it was just our normal schedule - work all day, church stuff all night.  Family dinners here and there, with occasional outtings with friends.  See?  Boring...  August wasn't anything special, and it was H O T.  Poor Darren...he had to work in the 115 degree weather every day.  He's amazing!  That could not have been fun.  Lets just say, he's glad it's cooler.  Still hot, but better!  Fall is in sight people =)

September has flown by.  The first weekend - Labor day weekend - Darren, Matt, and I took a trip to Vegas.  It had been WAY too long since we last visited his mom.  Sadly...I didn't take a single picture.  I need to work on that.  Anyway, it was a great weekend.  Saturday, we watched the BYU game at Darren's sister Jen's house.  They were able to bring Chris there so we watched it with her.  Saturday night we went bowling with some of Matt's buddies.  Sunday was a nice relaxing day with Shawn and his family.  Thanks Shawn and June for letting us stay there!

Monday was a great day.  For the first time since Chris's accident, she was brought back to their home on 7th St.  They brought her back, a few neighbors stopped by, she got to see Sheldon's garden, and we watched a movie.  After the movie was lunch, then we headed home.

It was a quick trip but a lot of fun!  This weekend is going be fun too.  Kauri, Darren's niece, is being baptized tomorrow.  So it'll be a Hunsaker filled weekend!  Lots of swimming and football is in sight =)

Well, that's the update.  Our life can be super exciting sometimes ;).  Things are going great and we're both still healthy and happy!  Hopefully it wont be a whole month before I post again.

(I have a fun trip planned for next weekend, I'll make sure to take pictures)

Build Our Own Testimonies

This year, because of Trek, Girls Camp was done on a ward basis.  I am so grateful to ALL my advisers, counselors, and camp directors for making Girls Camp a HUGE SUCCESS!  Our camp site was perfect!  The weather...PERFECT!  It was a great week.
At camp, we had 5 amazingly comfortable hammocks to relax on.  They also made for some hilarious times.  So many girls flipped over in the hammocks!
But besides falling in the hammocks, they  made for a great nap place.
Darren was in heaven =)
We had a blast playing games
And just spending time and getting to know each other.  I love how much better I know each girl now.  Girls camp was a great bonding experience!
The first night was filled with so many fun activities!  First, a couple of the girls and leaders played the..Fruit Game?  Not sure of the name, but it was hilarious!  You couldn't show your teeth.  At one point, both Peggy Braegger and Dawson had tears streaming down their faces.  Priceless!
Also the first night, the girls played Ooga Booga.  Now, I won't go into detail about Ooga Booga (you can't know until you 'know'), but I was raised on this game.  We played it with everyone, and my mom was always the Ooga Booga Queen.  She is great at it...but I must say, these girls take the cake!  I was in tears laughing!  They did such a WONDERFUL job!
After the Fruit Game and Ooga Booga came Snipe Hunting!  Now, I don't really have pictures of this (Snipes don't like the light).  But let me tell you, my YCL's did a fantastic job!  I've never seen so much work put into Snipe Hunting, it was priceless.
Wednesday was our hike and lake swim.  After that, we had a craft and spa day.  That night, skits!
Thursday was a BLAST!  In the morning, we made survival bracelets and wrote letters to the military.  We also got our workout in with some Zumba, the girls rocked it.  Thursday afternoon was water day.  We had a number of water activities, then Bishop and his wife got there.  They got SOAKED!
Great picture, Bishop gettin' the girls back!  He came prepared with his Super Soaker.
Girls camp was a blast and I loved getting to spend time with all my girls and my husband.  He was there all week and was a big help =)
We have a wonderful ward =)
Thanks, girls, for a great week!
