This one time...Darren and I went boating with my sister Heidi, her family, and Sandra. And we both got to try out wake surfing? I couldn't quite get the rhythm enough to let go of the rope pulling me (and just ride with the wake) but Darren and I both got up!
So much fun! Can't wait for next summer, hopefully we can go again!
This fall, I realized something. In my 24 years, before this October, I had never seen real fall. You know, leaves changing colors, falling, crunching under your boots, crisp in the air, fall. And let me tell you...I'm a fan!!!
Years ago, there were a couple of posts on my sweet mother in law. She passed away last month, on October 14th. My wonderful mother-in-law went into cardiac arrest 5 short months after Darren and I got married. She spent the next 3 1/2 years being taken care of in a nursing home in Las Vegas. She passed away last month, on October 14th. A few weeks before that, she had some difficulty breathing which landed her back in the hospital. Darren and her 9 other children were able to get together one last time. They took her off life support and she went strong for nearly 24 hours. I unfortunately never really had the opportunity to really get to know the woman who raised my amazing husband. Even still, I love her and will miss her dearly. I can't wait to get to know her in the next life. I am grateful for the life she lived, for the wonderful mother she was, for her testimony and example in living the gospel, and for raising such amazing children. What a legacy she left behind.
The funeral service was wonderful. All of her children sang for her, it was perfect. Darren also spoke. It was great to be with everyone again, even under the circumstances. She had a wonderful life and we did our best to celebrate her. I am grateful for the gospel and the knowledge I have of eternal families.
We love you, Mom!
(there are 4 adults and 1 little boy missing. Love our big family <3 p="">3>
Darren and my anniversary is next week. He's not good at waiting, so I got to open my gift last week. He got me a camera for Christmas last week. Lately, we've been wishing we we had a zoom lens. You see, my backyard is pure wilderness. We have an owl (more on that later). We'd really like quality pictures of that owl. So...he got this bad boy!
I'm in love. Now our owl needs to come by for a visit so we can test it out. Thanks Darren! Here's it compared to my other 2 lens'
In September 2007, Jessica (best friend turned sis in law in 08) went to a Rascal Flatts concert. Well, this September, we went again! This time, Sandra was with us. The Band Perry opened and I love them. It was a great night. Thanks for the idea, Sand!
A couple of months ago, Darren and I got to go to a Cardinals game. I'm pretty sure they played the Chargers. And I'm pretty sure it was pre season so I guess it wasn't even a real game. And we lost. Of course. But besides that, it was fun!!! Too bad most of their games are on Sunday.
Remember how I mentioned that I *thought* I had posted very day? I had!!! My mobile blogger hadn't even posting them! Family Dinner is from yesterday. Rascal Flatts was my post from last Tuesday, and NFL Game was from Wednesday. I just missed Saturday. I feel better now... I thought I was going crazy! Haha
Tonight was family dinner at our home. It always seems to get goofy. We started by comparing eachother's leg length to torso length ratio. Then arm wrestling, pull ups, planks, and baby wrestling. I love it :) enjoy! (Notice...I arm wrestle the nieces and nephews. Pathetic, Emily...)
Ever been in love with a mop? I am. I keep borrowing my mom's and sis-in-laws mops since I just ordered mine. They're magic. I hate hate hate mopping. But not with this thing...weird! Anyway, ever heard of Norwex? It's this super awesome company that makes super awesome cleaning supplies that you fall in love with (my mop)
Norwex is an awesome company. Right now, I have their enviro cloth and polisher rag. And I love them! Water only and my house is clean, even the windows. Same thing with the mop. Water only. I can't wait to get it. Anyway, my sis in law Jessica is having a Norwex party tomorrow (11/12) if any of my AZ friends are interested. Also, anyone out of town can order under her name if they want. You can look at the products online. Message or call me for details. You'll love them!
So much for posting every day. Apparently I missed Tuesday and Wednesday. Here's what funny...I totally thought I had posted every day! Then when I got on last night, it said last post on 11/4. Whoops! Haha I honestly thought I was doing good. Oh well. Nothing exciting today...my life is kinda boring ;)
Enjoy this picture of my red headed cutie nephew Zane! :)
Darren just bought me probably the most expensive pair of shoes I own haha. My new hobby means new shoes! Jess and I have run 3 days this week for a total of 7.3 miles! And I'm feeling great. Besides the fact that the crap shoes I wore yesterday bruised the bottom of my foot, ha. Thus, new shoes :)
Darren and I were lucky enough to move closer to family. My sister is 1 mile down the road, and shortly after we moved here, my brother moved into her same neighborhood. I love being so close. It means I can snatch my cute nieces for a spontaneous Sunday night cookie party :) love these little girls!
I downloaded Blogger on my phone. It isn't anything fancy, but I'm a lot more likely to post this way, especially on the weeks, than I am if I need to use a computer. So handy :)
Halloween was fun! Darren and I missed our ward's Trunk or Treat this year so we didn't bother with costumes. My sister invited us over to her house. They had pizza, cotton candy, and fun with the neighbors. It was fun hanging out with my family. We took Taycie to a few doors and she caught on fast. Happy Halloween!
Alright, it's November! Which is really weird. I know yesterday was Halloween and I was almost ready for it. But what I didn't realize is that means...today is November! Where has the time gone. Anyway, here's NaBloPoMo! Let's see if I can do a post a day :)
Here you have it! But first off, we plan to repaint (already, I know..). That grey you see in the downstairs bath from the last post, we plan on painting the kitchen/family room space that color. Hopefully sooner than later so I can put things on the wall. Anyway, ta da!
And After (Promise it's not as dark as it seems, I just took this picture in the evening so there wasn't much sunlight hitting that side of the house):
And some more pictures just for fun:
The original plan here was to just keep the same cabinets and stain them a little darker, but after getting a few quotes and opinions, we decided it would be better long term to replace them. The cabinets were old and worn, so instead of spending money making them look nicer, we just replaced them. Hopefully soon, we'll get hardware on the drawers. And see where the chevron art thing is in the corner? That used to be where the pantry was. Now...the pantry...
We will never run out of space... I love having our extra fridge in there. So much nicer than the garage. And yes, there's a window in our pantry. It goes to the side yard and there's a big house right next door so it gets barely any direct light. It is nice having sunlight in there during the day, tho. And it's the coldest room in the house!
Alright, here's the family room, before:
In here, we got rid of the pony wall and extended the tile a couple of feet into the family room.
Man those walls are so bare...Anyway, we also stained the entertainment center
Darren had to make a few adjustments with the side door thingys so our TV would fit. He's so handy :)
Darren and I got married on November 21st, 2009 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. So far, it's been an adventure we have both enjoyed. Darren is busy with his growing business and I enjoy working at a medical office. Right now, we're just loving life.
